100th Copy Sold... Call for Reviews!

Just the other day, the 100th copy of "Two Snowflakes" was sold! I know... not a lot yet :-) But, a pretty cool milestone for me all the same (and hopefully I'll be reaching much bigger milestones in the future)!

I've also given away quite a few copies on my own blog TwinHappy, as well as a few other blogs/sites. So, I thought this would be a good time to put a plea out for more reviews!

I've actually just added back the reviews I've so far collected, to twosnowflakes.net (scroll to the bottom to check them out)... however, I'd definitely love to have more!

If you've read "Two Snowflakes" and would be willing to let me post your review of it, please either leave it here, in the comments of this post... or you can mail it to me at jmiller@twosnowflakes.net. I'll either post whatever text you write/send... or, if you post a review on your own blog, I'll link directly to it on your site! (Although, you can feel free to just leave a short comment about it, as well!)

Thank you so much!!

P.S. If you purchased your copy through Amazon, I would also love to have more reviews there, as well!

Ultimate Blog Party!

Today is the start of the Ultimate Blog Party! While my official party post is over at my main blog TwinHappy, thought I would post one here, as well! For those of you just finding me, hi! My name is Jennifer Miller and I'm a Mom to identical twin girls who are about to turn 5 years old! It's been an amazing journey... one that started out a bit on the scary side: My girls are TTTS (Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome) survivors and, it really is nothing short of a miracle that they are both are not only with us, but healthy and thriving today!

It very easily could have been much different, though, especially since the TTTS in my pregnancy went undiagnosed. That's why I support the cause of TTTS awareness. One of the ways I do this is by donating $1 to the Fetal Hope Foundation (an organization working to raise awareness of TTTS and other fetal syndromes) for every copy of my book "Two Snowflakes" sold.

Which brings me to the prize that I have donated to the UBP Prize Pool: A copy of my book
"Two Snowflakes!" :-D

"Two Snowflakes" is the story of Phina & Bella, twin snowflakes who are tired of being mistaken for one another. However, a chance encounter shows them just how special and unique they really are.

You can actually watch/listen to a free reading of the book at twosnowflakes.net

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! Please do leave a comment, if you have a moment, especially with your blog address so I can visit yours! :-D And, hope you have a great time partying this week!!

And, if you came here from somewhere other than the UBP, you really should check it out! With how many people have already signed up for it, I'm betting they break that record of 2,000 bloggers they had last year... got up first thing this morning to make this post, sign up for the linkies and all, and already feel like I'm late to the party :-p Click here to join the Ultimate Blog Party!

Not that I need another blog....

But, I thought it would be nice if I could have a little one to feature things like specific news, reviews, etc. for my book, "Two Snowflakes!" :-)

First, a little history...

I started thinking about this book when the girls were just a few months old. I'm not exactly sure how I made the connection anymore, but I remember hearing something on TV about twins, specifically identical twins who have identical DNA, etc. Then, on a completely different program (although I think it all might have been some kind of Discovery channel :-p), I saw something about snowflakes, and how no two are alike. Which, of course, I've heard before, just as everyone has... however, it led to me thinking that people are like snowflakes: No two are exactly alike.

But what about identical twins? My daughters do share the same DNA sequence... however, they are most certainly individuals... even if most people have a hard time telling them apart :-p

So, it was an idea that started to take shape, even during those early, almost completely sleepless days and nights :-p Finally, when the girls were about 2 years old, I made my first attempt at writing it. I recently found some of my initial scribblings and they were kind of funny (and bad :-p) I did have the basic story in mind... but I think I just wasn't quite ready to write it yet.

So, I put it aside for awhile... I was going through kind of tough time (my stepkids had just moved in and were wreaking havoc :-p)... and, I think I still needed to let it all brew for awhile longer...

Finally, sometime after the girls' 3rd birthday, it all just seemed to lock into place one day. I literally sat down and wrote it in less than an hour. It really was amazing how it just kind of flowed out of me. But, I really do think that it was something that I had been writing in my head for 3 years.... even though it took me less than an hour on the computer to put it into words.

Then, as Thanksigiving was approaching, I really wanted to show the family... but I really felt like it needed illustrations, as well. So, I threw some together... and the result is the book that is out today! :-)

I've made a couple of little revisions to it (especially to the "extra" pages in it... which are mostly there to meet the minimum page count for the printers :-p), but I've recently decided to go back and redo at least most of the illustrations. Not the ones that are there now aren't cute (and the book has received so many wonderful reviews!) but I've actually learned a lot in the past year and a half and, especially if I'm not doing a rush job, I think I can make them look a whole lot better :-)

I do have a bit of a deadline... I want to finish it in time for the New York Book Festival. I'm planning to submit it for possible consideration in their awards program and, it needs to be in by May 25th. However, that gives me about 2 months, instead of the 2 days or so I took putting the original illustrations together :-p So, look for the new and improved version soon! However, if you'd like to get your hands on one of the original copies, they are still currently available at Amazon and Double Up Books! :-)

Oh and if you haven't seen it yet, I've already debuted a new design for the "Two Snowflakes" site at twosnowflakes.net... if you have a moment, please do let me know what you think!
